get to know
who she is
Hi, I’m Johanne.
I’m the woman behind Her Hands Made – a knitter, maker and homemaker with a love for creating, organizing and making the most of what I already have.
Here I share my knitting patterns, digital planners, and printables – inpired by a slower, more intentionel everyday life.
it all began with
knit & coffee
In 2016, a friend taught me how to knit. Under the Instagram name strik og kaffe (meaning knit & coffee), I documented and shared my knitting journey. Two years later I published my first knitting pattern, inspired by, designed to, and knitted for our firstborn, Elinor.
Since then, it has grown into a small, one-woman business with digital knitting patterns, planners, and printables — all created with care, inspired by everyday life and designed to be both beautiful and useful.
a tribute to
simple, creative living
We live in an old 1850s cottage in a small village just outside Copenhagen—surrounded by fields, horses, and wonderful neighbors.
Here, life moves a little slower, and there’s always a new project—in the house, in the garden, or with the knitting needles.
I find inspiration in the simple things: handmade details, nature, good food, growing, preserving and creating a home we love—one step at a time.
Her Hands Made is my way of sharing that inspiration with you through digital products, creative projects and ideas for a more intentional everyday life.
honoring the past while
shaping the future
Living in an old 1850s cottage means slowly unwrapping its history bit by bit—honoring the past while shaping the future.
I love discovering the stories that have unfolded within these walls and in the land around us. I can easily lose myself in old archives, maps and records, piecing together glimpses of the people who lived here before us.
Every now and then, the house itself reveals another little clue—a worn detail, an old repair, or something forgotten beneath the soil. Some discoveries are small, others tell a bigger story, but together they slowly add another piece to the history of this place.
the hobby that became
a one-woman business
I started out crocheting, but quickly discovered the endless possibilities of knitting. It opened up a whole new world to me, and I was fascinated by how much could be created with just yarn, two needles and my own hands.
That was when strikogkaffe (knitandcoffee) was born on Instagram—a digital diary for my own knitting journey, but also a place to find endless inspiration and become part of a wonderful creative community.
The name reflected what knitting had become to me: a creative space with a project in my hands and a cup of coffee nearby—a place where my shoulders could drop, creativity could flow, and new ideas could take shape.
In 2018, I published my first knitting pattern, originally designed for my daughter Elinor. One pattern became several, and before long, what had started as a hobby had quietly grown into a small one-woman business.
Over the years, I have designed knitwear for children, women and men, while learning everything that comes with running a creative business—from developing and writing patterns to photography, graphic design, building websites and sharing my work with others.
Her Hands Made is the next chapter. A place where my knitting patterns can live alongside the other things I love to create—planners, printables, creative projects and inspiration from everyday life.
A lot has changed since that very first pattern, but the idea behind it remains much the same: to create things that are thoughtful, useful and made to become part of everyday life.
